Once I put the black tea bag on my eye for the sty. Then what do I do next. And how long do it take to go away?

You will have to keep the teabag on your eye for at least 7 to 10 minutes. Placing a warm teabag over your eye increases the blood supply to the affected area. Since styes are generally caused by a bacterial infection, this will increase the amount of white blood cells available to fight off the infection.
This method also encourages draining without the need for lancing the stye. The tannins in the tea also help to reduce the inflammation around the stye. You can keep two or three teabags ready and use them one after the other in order to keep the entire area heated for longer.
If the stye doe not drain with the use of teabags, do not try to squeeze it or prick it. Instead, mash a freshly baked potato and wrap it in a moist towel and use it as a hot compress. Keep this compress on for at least 20 minutes. Baked potatoes retain heat for very long and so this method will facilitate the draining of the stye.
You can also use a homemade eyewash made out of coriander seeds. Heat about 1 ½ cups of water on high heat and when it comes to the boil, turn off the heat. Wash a few teaspoons of coriander seeds and then add it to the water. You can also add a pinch of turmeric to the water. Allow the water to cool completely and then strain out the seeds. Store the water in a clean container and use it at least twice a day to rinse your eyes. This will help to reduce the inflammation as well as fight off the infection. Once the stye drains, you should wash it with cool boiled water. This will ensure that the fluids and bacteria are washed away. Make sure that you wash the area around your eyes well to prevent a secondary infection. If your stye remains for more than a week, visit your doctor as it may be necessary to get it lanced.
Styes are often triggered by sleep deprivation, stress and an improper diet. It would be wise to ensure that you get enough of sleep daily. You should also take time off for a relaxing soak, a few minutes in meditation or any other method to help you de-stress. Make sure that you have a balanced diet that is nutritionally sound. Also make sure that you drink an adequate amount of water daily as this will help to keep your body hydrated.
