Some people tend to produce more ear wax, or have difficulty moving wax out of their ears. Drinking an adequate amount of pure/filtered water and ensuring you have alot of essential fatty acids in your diet will help the consistency and elimination of wax. To soften earwax, you may use a few drops of slightly warm olive oil or a commercially avaiable product such as Debrox.
In my opinion, the best method for wax removal is ear irrigation using a syringe of warm water. The warm water under slight pressure will dislodge the softened wax. Many health care practitioners provide this service.
Some people swear by the use of ear candles, but clinically, I have not seen results from this method. Do not use Q-tips or other instruments (fingers included) to attempt to remove wax from ears. The Q-tips often push the wax farther into the ear and may irritate the ear canal.
