Something to take to repel fleas and mosquitoes

If you need something to eat, it is hardly possible to suggest anything. If there were edible substances which would automatically repel mosquitoes and fleas, the species would probably have died out by now, as everyone would be consuming whatever it was to repel them. You can try for some topical applications that just may be able to help you, however. All kinds of mint based plants will repel fleas and mosquitoes. You could get the leaves of peppermint, spearmint or mint and use these to make a poultice. Crush the leaves well and soak them in just enough water to cover them. Close this tightly and let it stand for a day. Strain and use this. When applied to the body, the liquid will not let any insects come close to you at all. If you do not want to work hard, you can also buy pure peppermint, spearmint or just plain mint oil and use that instead. The only thing is that these oils are viscous in nature and will emanate a very strong smell, so you might want to keep that in mind.

The leaves of holy basil are also known to repel insects. Merely planting one around your surroundings will keep insects away. You can follow the same routine with the leaves as you did with mint and use it the same way to repel insects from your body. Chamomile is also known to repel mosquitoes. You can powder and dust yourself with this herb and it will help to keep the insects away. Lighting citronella candles will also keep them away from your surroundings. It is also said that if you ear raw garlic, mosquitoes will tend to ignore you. The oil from the raw garlic supposedly acts as a very effective repellant and keeps them away.
