A boil is also known as a skin abscess and is basically an infection that is lodged deep in the skin. The boil first begins on a particular area f the skin as a reddened tender area. As the infection gets stronger, the area starts to become hardened and firm.
After which the middle of the boil starts to become soft and then gets filled with white blood cells that help fight the infection. These white blood cells are sent by the body through the blood stream in order to help fight off the bacteria causing the infection and is what is commonly referred to as pus. This pus then solidifies and forms the head of the boil.
The head eventually drains and heals after treatment. These boils may be caused due to a variety of reasons of which; ingrown hairs, plugged sweat glands that are infected, and a cut or scrape that gets infected are the most common.
In this way a boil may be formed on the buttock. It is important to treat the boil properly, because if it is left untreated the infection will eventually spread and other areas of the skin may get infected as well. The infection can even dig deeper into the skin and eventually spread to other areas of the body through the blood stream causing further complications. The easiest way to treat a boil on the buttock is use heat. Make a hot compress and apply it on the infected area for about half an hour. Do the same every few hours during the day. The heat will allow the boil to burst and eventually drain. After the boil has burst, clean the wound with the help of an antiseptic and make sure to not allow the pus to touch the any other parts of your skin. Avoid trying to burst or squeeze the boil, as it will only complicate things.
