Sometimes I burn my eyes from soap. What can I do to stop the burning?

Eye Infection Home Treatment

Soaps contain dyes, perfumes, and other chemicals that can cause sever irritation to the sensitive mucous membranes of the eye. If soap gets into your eyes, use running water to flush it out immediately. If possible use warm water as this will help to dislodge any particles that are stuck to our eye lids and lashes. Make sure that you do not use hot water as this will aggravate your eye even more.

Add a couple of ice cubes to a glass of clean drinking water. You can use this cool water to rinse your eye. This rinse will help to sooth your eye and reduce any pain or inflammation. Make sure that you do not place ice cubes directly on your eye or eye lids, as the extreme cold is as damaging to your eyes as is extreme heat. If the inflammation has not subsided within the next hour or so, you can use a warm saline solution to flush your eye once more. While washing, lift your eye lid up and away from the eye ball as this will ensure that no trapped particles remain within the eye. If your problem has not cleared completely within the next six to eight hours visit your local doctor.
