From your description it sounds as if you are suffering from a condition known as Tinnitus. Tinnitus is a medical condition where a person complains of hearing noises in his ear. These noises are usually described as ringing or swishing.


The noises seem to come from the head or the ear. People are usually disconcerted when they hear the noise in their ears.
Tinnitus is a condition that can affect the outer ear, the middle ear, the inner ear or even the brain. This condition is caused by some infections or some retention of fluid in the ears.

In most cases people of advanced age complain of Tinnitus. The microscopic endings of the hearing nerve, located in the inner ear, can be damaged due to age. Also, most people complain of a loss of hearing as they grow older and this can cause Tinnitus. Another possible reason for this condition is the exposure to loud noises. This not only causes Tinnitus, but can also damage hearing.  Some medications can also cause Tinnitus.

If you have been on some medication, then you should consult your doctor about the possible side effects. You can try some simple exercises at home to help you get rid of the noises in your ears. You should stand up and then roll your head in the clockwise direction. Do this thrice. Then roll it in the anti clockwise direction thrice. Bend it forward and backward thrice.
