How do you get a build-up of hair spray out of your hair using home remedies?

Hair spray or hair lacquer is an aqueous solution that is used to keep hair stiff for long periods of time. A commonly used cosmetic product, it contains a lot of silicone, which can build up on your hair and seal out moisture. If left unattended to, it can eventually cause the hair to break off. There are some simple remedies to prevent this and remove hairspray build up.

You could use a vinegar rinse on your hair followed by a shampoo to get rid of hair spray. Another effective way is to mix a shampoo or dish liquid with baking soda in order to form a paste. Once mixed, apply the paste to your hair and let it remain there for approximately five minutes, after which you can wash it off using water. This should be followed by a conditioner for better results.

With regular use of hair spray and a long period of build up, hair starts to appear almost lifeless. You can remedy this by washing your hair with rosemary and sage to restore some bounce and shine to your hair.

In addition, normal hair care measures, such as washing your hair on a regular basis and cutting down on over-excessive use of hair spray also helps. Sometimes however, the use of the wrong shampoo can result in inefficient cleaning and thus allow hair spray to build up. You should therefore try to find a shampoo that suits your hair type.
