my child is 9, he just recently started to get a white tongue... He is drinking more milk than usual...Could this be the cause?

Advice for white coating on tongue

The cause for a white tongue is usually an unclean tongue. You can buy a tongue cleaner and use it on the child, or ask him to brush out his tongue with his toothbrush as well. If the child is having a lot of milk, it is imperative that after drinking the milk, he rinse his mouth properly and have a few sips of water as well. The cause for concern would be if the child also has bad breath. This could mean that the tongue being white is a sign of a tummy that is unable to digest what all goes into it. Keep a close watch on what the child is eating and avoid processed foods for some time. Try giving him as much natural food as possible, with extra stress on fresh fruits and vegetables. Concentrate specially on citrus fruits like oranges, lemons and lime. Make sure the child is chewing food properly, and not just swallowing it, as this will also lead to indigestion. It is also important to ascertain that the child is consuming at least 6 glasses of water every day. Lack of water can also give a white tongue. After following the remedies given here, if the condition persists, please seek medical advice to eliminate the possibility of an infection or any other problem.
