  • Wear shoes and socks with proper ventilation. Use cotton socks and wash them everyday. Keep extra pairs of shoes and socks.
  • Discontinue smoking and reduce alcohol, tea and coffee.
  • Maintain adequate fluid intake by having a minimum of 1 liter of water and fruit juices daily.
  • Use arch supports, cushioning insoles and wider and open shoes for comfort and air circulation.
  • Keep your blood sugar levels near to the normal level.
  • Wash your feet with warm water and an antibacterial lotion or any mild soap. You can use baby soap for this purpose.
  • Massage your feet with coconut oil twice a day.
  • Add 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar in half a bucket of water and soak your feet in it for 15 minutes everyday before going to bed at night. You can also dip your feet in cold water.
  • Avoid walking barefoot. Keep your feet clean and wear slippers at home. Rest them and dust them with a powder after washing and drying them. Use a cooling foot cream or a moisturizing lotion to keep your feet smooth.
  • Protect your feet from exposure to sudden warmth or chill.
  • If you notice redness, swelling or numbness in your feet, please consult your podiatrist immediately.
