I get boils on my upper arms, which ripe and then leave a black spot on my arms. My arms are no longer smooth and have got all black spots and still tiny pimples. It is also very itchy at times and appears reddish.

Boils that appear on the surface layers of the skin in small clusters may be caused by folliculitis. The boils may be red and itchy with or without pus. Frequent folliculitis may be the sign of some underlying medical disorder and should be referred to a dermatologist. Here are some home remedies to help deal with the boils:

  • The juice of garlic and onion when applied to the boils will help them ripen and break quickly.
  • Black cumin seeds ground with a little water to make a paste can be applied to the boils to help drain them.
  • Applying a drop of tea tree oil is also a good remedy
  • If turmeric is available, then a mixture of ginger and turmeric may be applied directly to the boils. Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory and will help reduce the pain apart from speeding up the healing process.
  • Apply alternate ice cold and warm compresses to the area until the boils erupt. Even afterwards, continue the warm compresses until the boils drain completely.

Always touch the boils with sterilized hands and wash thoroughly with an antibacterial soap afterwards otherwise you may risk infecting other parts of the body. Some remedies to help lighten scars are listed below:

  • Vitamin E is said to be good for lightening scars and is also used to good effect on stretch marks. Vitamin E is present in almond oil. So you can either use almond oil on the scar or use creams containing a mixture of aloe vera gel and Vitamin E.
  • Another simple way is to purchase Vitamin E capsules, prick them with a needle and squeeze out the fluid. Apply this fluid directly on scars.
  • Lemon juice applied directly on the scar may also help.
  • Natural 100% cocoa butter is also said to be an effective remedy.
