I have a condition diagnosed as cataah, is there any known remedy or herb that will give me relief from constant clearing my throat of thick mucus. If so, please advise.

When the mucous membranes that line your lungs are irritated, they react by secreting more mucous. This is usually as a result of cold. People suffering from catarrh suffer from a variety of symptoms like a constantly dripping nose, congestion in the chest, snoring and other such effects of this condition. A dry cough constantly tickles the back of a catarrh patient's throat.

You can help drain the mucous in your chest and throat by inhaling steam. Adding some eucalyptus oil to the steam will help you. You can also try sipping on warm water to which a tablespoon of honey and the juice of half a lemon have been added. Gargling can also ease the symptoms. Use salt in warm water to gargle several times a day. You can also add turmeric to the water before gargling. A cup of warm milk with a pinch of turmeric drunk at bedtime will be beneficial too. An easy herbal infusion that you can make at home requires one tablespoon of crushed aniseed. Add this to two cups of water. Boil the water. Strain when it is cool. Drink a cup of this every day. You can also use the dried young shoots of pine. Boil one tablespoon of these in a cup of water. Let it stand for a little while. When it cools, strain it and drink half a cup every day.
