Symptoms of Prostatitis


The symptoms of prostatitis usually depend on the cause. The common signs and symptoms of prostatitis include:

  • Dysuria – Pain or discomfort while urinating
  • Difficulty in urinating
  • Frequent urination
  • Increased urge to urinate at night
  • Pain in the groin, lower abdomen or lower back
  • Pain in the perineum, the region between the scrotum and the rectum
  • Pain in the testicles or penis
  • Discomfort during orgasms
  • Flu-like symptoms

It is advisable to see your doctor in case you experience any pain or difficulty while urinating. If left untreated, the condition may worsen and lead to other health complications. Some of the complications of prostatitis include:

  • Bacterial infection in the bloodstream
  • Inflammation of the epididymitis, the tube located behind the testicle
  • Pus formation in the prostate
  • Infertility
