Healthy Weight Gain Foods

If you want to gain weight, you will generally want to eat food which is high in fats and calories. Although fatty foods may increase your weight, they do so in an unhealthy way. Such foods tend to make you obese and also make you susceptible to various ailments like increased blood pressure and other cardiovascular diseases.

As such, you must resort to a healthy diet so as to gain weight in a healthy manner. The specifics of a healthy diet to increase weight are as follows:

  • You must include a lot of carbohydrates in your diet that supply high calories to your body. The naturally occurring carbohydrate rich sources of foods include whole grains, vegetables like potatoes, sweet potato, and corn.

  • You must include a lot of naturally occurring protein rich foods like black beans, kidney beans and dried peas in your daily meals.
  • You must also include dairy products in your diet which includes yogurt, butter, and cheese as these foods are very high in calories and also are high in nutritional content.
  • You must eat a lot of seafood and certain forms of meat that are not high in cholesterol.
  • You must eat nuts like cashew, almonds and walnuts on account their high calorie and mono saturated fat and fiber content.
  • You must include fruits like bananas which are relatively high in calorie content.
  • You are advised not to consume fast food or junk foods as these foods may provide you greater amounts of calories, but their nutritional value is very low.
  • You must replace sugary sodas with natural fruit juices.
  • Avocados are also high in calorie content and so you can consume one avocado every morning.
  • You must replace refined oils with healthy unsaturated oils like olive oil and canola oil.
  • You must eat a lot of green vegetables like spinach, broccoli, kale, and celery. These vegetables are high in nutrition but low in calories which can be compensated by a dressing of olive or canola oil.
  • You must avoid caffeinated drinks as these may lead to dehydration and thereby cause weight reduction.
  • Other foods which are high in calories and also nutrition are tomatoes, raisins and sunflower seeds.
  • Snacking is also an important way to gain weight. You must also consume dessert after dinner so as to gain extra calories.
  • You must not skip any of your meals.

These are a few easy tips to gain weight, but in a healthy manner and without any severe implications.
