Stages of Breast Cancer: General Awareness and Detection through Mammogram

As the abnormal growth of cells in the brain leads of brain tumor, similarly, the uncharacteristic development of cells can some times cause breast cancer. Breast cancer is one of the dangerous diseases of the world. Therefore, it is essential to know about the different stages of breast cancer.

There are four stages of breast cancer; in the first stage doctors may detect a breast cancer lump through a mammogram. In this stage tumor is not more than 2 centimeters and lymph nodes are yet to be affected. This is a primary stage of breast cancer; therefore, it is essential to become aware about the early symptoms of and stages of breast cancer.

The second stage of breast cancer is divided into two sub-stages, in first sub-stage the tumor nodes under the arm and contain cancer cells. Cancer cells are not stuck to each other and therefore have not started spreading yet. In this stage, the size of tumor is 2 centimeters to 5 centimeter. On other hand the second sub-stage of breast cancer, tumor is more than 5 cm long, the lymph nodes in the armpit contain cancer cells, and they may adhere together. This is one of the important stages of breast cancer.

The third stage of breast cancer, you may find tumor to be affixed to the chest wall or skin and the lymph isn’t always formed of cancer cells. Tumor can be of any size and it may spread to lymph notes in the armpit and under the breastbone.

In the fourth stage the breast cancer exhibits symptoms that occur due to cancerous cells that have metastasized or spread to various organs like bones, liver, lungs.

Therefore, it becomes important for doctors as well as for patients to become aware about the various stages of breast cancer. Additionally, awareness of breast cancer is essential because it will help people to begin breast cancer treatments as soon as possible.
