I have a problem with eczema on the scalp and a lot of hair falls out.

Hair loss is a common problem in this day and age on account of faulty eating habits, pollution, and lack of hair care. Other than these, there are various afflictions like skin eczema and dermatitis that cause hair fall.

Natural remedies to prevent hair loss are as follows:

  • You can apply filtered syrup of mustard oil prepared by boiling it with myrtle leaves, which is an effective home remedy for hair loss.
  • The application of coconut milk and aloe vera gel on the scalp is also an effective home remedy for hair loss. You could apply these agents on the scalp for half an hour and then rinse with water.
  • You can apply curd mixed with mashed banana on the scalp once a month. This cures dandruff, moisturizes your hair, and also relieves itching. As such, it is a very beneficial home remedy for hair loss.
  • You can also use egg white and honey to massage your scalp to prevent hair loss.
  • Another effective home remedy for hair loss is to apply the juice of coriander leaves on scalp.

Other than these remedies to cure hair fall problems, there are various remedies to prevent hair loss, such as, avoiding the use of very hot water to wash hair. Also, you must not use harsh chemical based shampoos to cleanse your hair. You must use a good quality hair brush and avoid excessive combing and backward combing. Hair massage with olive or almond oil before shampooing also prevents hair loss.

As mentioned above, hair loss may also be caused by skin afflictions like eczema. The symptoms of hair fall due to medical illness like eczema are an itchy scalp, dandruff, and the appearance of scales and patches on scalp.

Remedies to cure skin eczema and prevent consequent hair fall are as follows:

  • You can apply coconut oil on the scalp which nourishes the skin and relieves dryness caused by eczema.
  • You could apply a paste of camphor and sandalwood on scalp which is one of the most effective home remedies for itchy scalp.
  • Another natural treatment for eczema is the application of a paste of almond leaves on afflicted areas and scalp.
  • You could mash papaya seeds and apply them on eczema afflicted areas to relieve the condition.
  • The application of a smooth paste of nutmeg and water also helps cure eczema and its symptoms including hair fall.

You must consult your dermatologist in case the eczema is severe and is leading to excessive hair fall

The basic thing you have to understand about eczema is that it is a result of extremely dry and irritated skin that is basically sensitive in nature. The other thing to know is that if you leave it unchecked, eczema can run rampant and spread like wildfire. In your case, scalp eczema can be effectively dealt with by simply following a few easy methods at home. To begin with, you should apply pure olive oil to your scalp at least thrice a week. This will be of maximum help in getting rid of your eczema. You should also always use a shampoo that is specially formulated for extra dry hair and scalp. If possible, it is preferable that your shampoo be hypo allergenic, natural and organic as well. All of these elements will help with catering to the extra sensitivity of your skin. There are also some natural elements that are particularly useful in dealing with the condition of your scalp. Camphor is one of them. You can make a diluted camphor rinse of two crushed crystals of camphor mixed with four tall glasses of water and apply this to your scalp. This will make the skin tingle to begin with, but will gradually ease. Keep adding crystals of camphor to this liquid every now and then. The concentration should be increased, as this will help more and more. But your scalp also has to get used to it at the same time.

Sandalwood paste is also an excellent remedy to use for taking care of scalp eczema. Make a paste of sandalwood with rose water to which a drop of olive oil has been added. This should then be applied to the particularly thick and scaly patches of eczema on the scalp. This will help to treat it effectively and well. You can wash it off once it begins to dry up. Another very good remedy to use for scalp eczema is to apply castor oil to it. But you should wait for some time till the condition of your skin improves to some degree before you start applying castor oil. Castor oil may also break a few hairs, particularly if you try to rub it in. it is very thick and viscous in nature and also does not spread easily. After applying castor oil, you should use the method of hot water fomentation fro good results. Take a hot towel and wrap it around your head till it cools.
