Symptoms of Shin Splints



The signs of shin splints are easily noticeable. Pain accompanied by tenderness in the lower legs commences during exercise, or persists after the activity has ceased. The symptoms of shin splints include:

  • Pain and a sore feeling along the inner part of the lower legs. This may be on the anterior part of the tibia or posterior part of the shin.
  • At times, a mild swelling or inflammation in the lower limbs may accompany this condition.
  • Often, the pain may increase or persist with any kind of physical activity, and it may continue even after the individual has stopped performing the exercise or the physical activity.
  • In terms of visible symptoms, the muscles around the calf region may appear taut and may be painful to touch.
