Bleach and baking soda
suggested by [unspecified] on Friday, June 29, 2007

A long time ago, a doctor my sister was working for, gave her a remedy that has worked for both of us like magic: a paste made with bleach and baking soda. It must be applied very carefully on the affected area with a Q-tip. It works specially good when the cold sore is already flaring. Good luck and god bless

This will solve ANY coldsore quickly

I suffer from coldsores I used to get them about 3 times a year, especially when the weather changed or I was stressed. My doctor prescribed valtrex 500mg when I feel the tingle that means the coldsore is coming on I take two and problem solved the cold sore never even appears, I haven't had an outbreak in years. Valtrex is actually for genital herpes which I fortunately don't suffer from but works great for the ones on your lip.

1. Ask your dr. for Zovirax. Cream is great but the capsules work at the onset. Relief has come in my family and you can take the pills before they become unsightly.

I have found that taking L-Lysine 500mg everyday has reduced the number of outbreaks tremendously. It was not uncommon to have a cold sore once a month. Now I may have one once or twice a year. Hope this works for you.

ULTIMATE COLD SORE REMEDY
suggested by [unspecified] on Tuesday, May 22, 2007

after dealing with what started out as a cold sore for nearly two months (i'm a picker and the skin at the corners of my mouth is very thin so it wouldnt heal) i decided to try calamine lotion and it worked. just like with chicken pox or poison ivy or even a really bad sunburn, it dries it up. i've tried nearly every otc product meant for clearing up cold sores and they just dont work anymore and tend to be more of an irritant than a solution. so stick a q-tip in your bottle of calamine and dab it on the sore (i do it before i go to bed so no one sees but you can also get caladryl, it's a clear calamine gel) it doesnt burn and causes minimal peeling which is more than i can say for campho phenique or abreva plus calamine is much cheaper. just once a day and it was gone in 3 days....how's that for quick and painless :)

cayenne pepper works
suggested by [unspecified] on Saturday, May 19, 2007

The little old ladies at the Seventh Day Adventist run health food store told me this one: Cayenne Pepper. When I feel the first tingle of a sore, I make a paste out of cayenne and apply it to the afflicted spot. It truly tingles and I can feel it working. I might repeat this a few times, and a cold sore never even appears! After using so many store bought chemical ointments in my life, cayenne pepper works the most effectively and the fastest. I always have some in my medicine cabinet.

I use this stuff a friend told me about called RexEme from Rexeme.com. I call it magic potion lotion. It make cold sores and most other skin issues (psoriasis) go away.
