Symptoms of Pneumothorax


The signs and symptoms of pneumothorax include:

  • A sharp and sudden chest pain on the side of the lung that is affected
  • Chest pain associated with pneumothorax does not occur in the center of the chest but rather only on the side
  • Chest pain caused due to pneumothorax does not worsen when breathing in and out
  • Coughing may aggravate the chest pain
  • Fatigue or exhaustion
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Dyspnea
  • Lack of oxygen may cause bluish tinge to the skin
  • Low blood pressure
  • Nasal flaring
  • Anxiety
  • Dry hacking cough
  • Shock
  • Engorgement of neck veins
  • Difficulty breathing and shortness of breath.
