The sole source of cholesterol in the diet is animal products, however if you exceed on visible fat (mainly saturated and Trans fats), the excess gets converted in to cholesterol. Keep the following points in mind to decrease your cholesterol levels.
  • Avoid consumption of organ meats like liver, brain and kidneys, meat, egg yolk, fatty fish and chicken with skin.
  • Load your diet with fiber. Eat lots of fresh fruits and dark green leafy vegetables. Emphasize on oat meal, whole grain cereals and pulses and decrease the consumption of refined and processed foods as far as possible.
  • Soak 2 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in a cup of water at night. In the morning eat this seeds along with the water 30 minutes before breakfast. Soak another 2 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in a cup of water in the morning and eat them 30 minutes before dinner. This will also help to decrease your cholesterol significantly.
  • Consume a fresh clove of garlic early morning on an empty stomach daily or include garlic while preparing meals. Garlic does wonders in decreasing cholesterol.
  • Avoid consumption of fatty fried foods, sweets, chocolates, ice creams, cheese, cream, mayonnaise.
  • Regular exercise is a very effective way to decrease your cholesterol levels naturally.
