The most common reason for a big belly is that you are affected by obesity, although there are a few other medical conditions that could lead to a prominent increase in the size of your belly. In order to correctly diagnose if the size of your belly has been influenced by some serious medical condition, it is best advised that you visit a local doctor and have a few medical tests performed. If the condition is a sign of obesity, however, you should be aware of the fact that, apart from new age surgical methods to reduce the size of your stomach, decreasing the size of your belly will take a lot of hard work and self control, when it comes to your intake of food as well as the amount of exercise you get.
Obesity can be measured with the help of the body mass index scale that compares a person’s height with their weight, and identifies to what extent an individual is overweight. Being overweight can have varying degrees of effect on your life, largely depending on how out of shape you are. Some of the more severe complications of being overweight include type 2 diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea, certain types of cancer and osteoarthritis.
As mentioned before, the most effective method in reducing your overall weight is to make a conscious effort to adjust the amount of food you eat everyday. You must also pay very close attention to the calorie content of the food that you eat as eating fried foods and fast food contain a significantly high amount of saturated fat. A lot of people are unaware of the effect that insufficient sleep can have in the onset of obesity. You must make it a habit to eat a tomato early in the morning for a period of about three months as this will help normalize the body weight. Another option is to boil sliced ginger in a pot and add a few slices of lemon before allowing it to cool, drink this solution every morning. This will help control any overeating and thereby helps in the treatment of obesity. Mixing a teaspoon of fresh honey with juice extracted from half a lime and combined with a glass of lukewarm water makes for a rather effective concoction, which can be consumed at regular intervals during the course of the day. Increase your intake of foods like beans, grapes, jackfruits, peaches and pulses as well.

Treatment for big belly
The "big belly" is essentially a build up of fat around the waist, and getting rid of it requires the same approach as losing weight in general — diet control and exercise.
Particularly among men, the midsection is among the main areas where fat is stored. Losing this accumulated fat is the same as losing fat anywhere else on the body. Although there are a large number of diets, exercise regimes and other products that claim to help you lose what is known colloquially as a pot belly or a paunch, spot reduction — losing accumulated fat in one spot — is impossible. If your approach focuses exclusively on your midsection, you will not see much result.
You first need to modify your diet to cut down your intake of fat and carbohydrates. You should eat more vegetables and fruits, and also increase your intake of dietary fiber. In addition, you need to start exercising regularly. Any kind of sustained physical activity for at least 45 minutes a day will do — you can begin with a brisk walk if you like. Remember that losing weight is a slow process, and so it will be a while before you see results. Attempting rapid, sudden weight loss is unlikely to be successful in the long run, and is also unhealthy.
