Cure for itchy rashes on legs

Skin rashes on legs are not a very serious problem and anyone could be affected by this condition. The only thing is to diagnose and identify the underlying cause correctly. In your case, your doctor feels that you persistently rub your legs against something. If you know that the diagnosis is incorrect, you should get the cause identified so that the precise action can be taken.

Causes

There could be any of the following causes for skin rashes on legs.

  • Some fungal infection such as ringworm.
  • Some bacterial infection such as scabies.
  • Other skin disorders such as eczema or psoriasis.
  • Allergies caused by environmental pollution on work place such as skin coming in contact with certain mineral ores or chemicals.
  • Rashes caused by insect bite.
  • Reaction caused by some drug or cosmetic products.

Treatment

Treatment of itchy rash on legs involves local application of medicated ointments or oral pills or both depending on the cause of the disorder. For example, if it is due to a chronic fungal infection, you may need to take a long course of oral medicines as well. However, there are a number of home remedies also for treating leg rashes. You may use any of the following home remedies:

  • Rub the insides of the banana peels on the rashes for a few minutes 2 – 3 times a day. This is a very good natural and simple home remedy for skin rashes on legs.
  • Make some paste by mixing baking soda with water and apply it on the affected areas of your skin at least twice a day. Use this remedy till the rashes gradually disappear.
  • Vinegar being a natural disinfectant and fungicide is very beneficial for treating skin rashes. Apply vinegar with a cotton ball on the rashes and rub gently 2 – 3 times a day.

Despite using home remedies, if the rashes persist for over 7 to 10 days, you should consult a dermatologist.
