I am looking for a remedy to control ants, is there anything out there that i can put on there ant hills that is safe for my animals but is not a pesticide.

Here's a recipe I have used successfully. You just need to be a little patient. It should be used in an area where your animals (or children) can't eat it, since it will give them heartburn too: 3 1/2 ounces of strawberry jam (or any sweet jam), 1 1/2 tablespoons of wet, canned cheap cat food, 1 Tablespoon of boric acid. Mix together and put little balls around the ant trails.

Scattering cloves in areas prone to ant infestation will repel them.
