To answer your question directly; No, scrubbing alone, would not help in taking away the dark spots from your armpits. On the contrary, you would add some amount of red rash to the area due to the constant scrubbing. It is understandable that dark spots in the armpits could create a lot of tension and worry, especially to women who are used to wearing sleeveless tops.

However you need to understand that this is a fairly common problem among most people in the world and can be solved without much of a hassle.

Spots on the area of the underarms could be a result of varying factors like excessive sweating, exposure to sunlight to a large extent, concentration of melanin in the particular area and so on. You need to understand that most of the times such conditions can be reversed so that a person can retain their original color; however a hereditary condition, would be difficult to cure. Dark spots could also be caused due to acne formation in the area. In such an event you could make use of some simple home remedies to solve the problem.

Scrubbing the area would bear some fruit only after the application of a paste made from sandalwood powder and lime juice. You could also add some turmeric powder and honey for an added effect. Apply this paste to your underarms and let it stay there till it dries up. Once it is dried, you could scrub it off and wash your underarms with plain water. Be careful of the soap that you use, as soaps with harsh chemicals are also known to deteriorate the condition of the skin.

Applying unsweetened yogurt to the area would also help to remedy your condition. You could also consume this everyday if application is not an option for you. Drink a lot of water, at least 8 – 10 glasses a day. This would help in moisturizing the body and also help in better blood circulation. Remember to wear loose cotton clothing in order that the area gets enough ventilation. Avoid exposure to the sun and use a sunscreen every time you step out in the sun. The type of diet that you follow would play a vital role in solving your problem. Make sure you include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables in you every day diet to help you grow out of the condition. Patience is required in order to see real changes and nothing will happen overnight.
