Gum Abscess Treatment

How do I know if my gum abscesses that serious for a root canal can I cure it any other way?

A Gum abscess is extremely painful and requires immediate dental care. When you have a gum abscess, pus forms within the gums and causes the entire area to become inflamed. This is caused by a very serious and severe gum disease called periodontitis and if it is not treated it can result in a condition known as septicemia which is an infection of the blood. It can also affect other organs of the body including the heart. Furthermore, the pus within the abscess has no place from which it can drain out and so it starts to work its way down towards the bone. This results in a periodontal abscess where the tooth, the tissue surrounding it, and the bone get infected and then destroyed. However, there are several home remedies for a gum abscess that you can use to reduce the inflammation. These remedies are only to be used on an interim basis until you can visit your dentist.

Home remedies for a gum abscess would include herbs and treatments to help reduce the inflammation as well as boost your immune system in order to fight off the infection. Allopathic drugs that are prescribed for this condition are antibiotics. Garlic and clove have natural antibiotic properties and so they are often used to help alleviate the pain and reduce the severity of the infection. You should crush 3 to 4 cloves of garlic and add the paste to a glass of warm water. Add two drops of clove oil to this solution and use this water as a mouthwash. Make sure that you swish the liquid in your mouth several times before you spit it out. This will ensure that the liquid gets in between your teeth and gums. This will also help to rinse out any debris that would aggravate the condition. You can use this mouthwash every hour or so to help get rid of the pain. Make sure that you sue very warm water as this will encourage the abscess to burst and drain rather than allow the pus to infect the bone. Have plenty of warm liquids like soups instead of your meals. This will help to minimize the pressure on your teeth and gums.

If your dentist feels that you require a root canal make sure that you schedule it as soon as possible. Postponing the treatment will only increase the chances of the abscess not healing completely. This will require surgery wherein the root tips are filled.
