Honey and Weight loss

It is incorrect to assume that eating any one single food can contribute to weight loss or gain. A teaspoon of honey contains the same amount of calories as a teaspoon of sugar hence caloric contribution of both are the same. Honey, per say has calories so it will not help you lose weight.
You will lose weight only if your energy output is more than energy consumed in a whole day and it is consistently followed at least for a week to reflect any changes in your weight.
The total calories consumed in a day, that is, overall energy consumption in a day is more important than calories consumed from one food item or at one particular meal. The simple rule of thumb is, when energy expenditure (calories burnt) are more than energy consumed (calorific value of foods you eat) you will lose weight. Viceversa, when calories burnt are less than calories consumed then you will gain weight. However, there are several health benefits of honey.
