My husband has infected foot from stepping on a nail, what should we do?

Take an onion, cut into small pieces. Add 3-4 cloves of garlic, a little sesame oil or clarified butter, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and warm it up for 5 minutes till garlic turns golden brown. Grind into fine smooth paste. Put the paste on the wound/swelling, tie a plant leaf of big size and a cotton bandage above it. In three days pain/inflamation should get reduced and pus may come out of the wound. Keep the poultice continued till complete new skin develops.

Another ayurvedic remedy is Jatyadi tailam, applied in slightly warm condition. Many other remedies exist, but the previous one is just waiting in the kitchen to be tried. Aloe vera gel can also give fst new skin development after the pus is cleared.

Good old poltice, Put enough HOT water on a piece of bread (enough to wet)sprinkle some sugar on to activate the yeast, put this directly on to infected area, and wrap up with bandage, replace this after a couple of hours, repeat untill all infection has gone,be sure to keep infected area covered until healed.

A poltice can also be made out of soap and sugar, this was handed down to me by my father who was in the 2nd world war.

Footnote" If ths or any infection from a wound has a red line that extends upwards towards your torso, you will need antibiotics, which means a doctor visit.

Soak his foot in as hot a water as he can stand that has a 1/2 a cup to a cup of Epsom salt in it. This should draw out the infection.
