(Last Updated: Jun 13, 2006)

The first question is why do you want to decrease the fever? A fever is the body's way of incinerating micro-organisms which may be causing infection and is part of our natural defenses. However, depending upon the actual temperature, the person's age, and condition -there could be times when it may be advisable to moderate temperature increases. One way of doing this is;to sit in slightly cool bath water for awhile.

This is an age old natural remedy to bring down high fever down within minutes:

  • Dip a towel in ice water, wring out the excess water and place the cold towel on your hot forehead. When the towel gets warm to the touch, put the towel again in the iced water, squeeze out excess water and place on forehead again. Do this at least 6-8 times or longer until fever comes down.
