Swimmers need to take utmost care of their ears, as the risk of infection is greater. Try these simple remedies as it has proven beneficial for swimmers ear:
- Use the warm setting of a hair dryer for 30 seconds. It helps, but keep it away from the ears.
- A warm towel or heating pad is beneficial.
- Rub petroleum jelly on a cotton ball and plug your ears.
- Try an over-the-counter ear drop for an infection.
- Ear drops of white vinegar and alcohol in equal parts act as a bacteriostatic agent.
- Wear an ear plug, the next time, you swim. Always swim on the surface, to facilitate less water entering your ears.
- Avoid swabbing the ear wax, as it protects the canal from moisture, by acting as a coating.
- Tilt your head in such a way, that the clogged ear is up. Pour 2 drops of alcohol and straighten the canal by pulling the pinna. Then, tilt it the otherway, thereby bringing the alcohol out.
