Itchy feet can be caused by various factors but the most common cause is infection. Fungal infections often have very noticeable symptoms like boils and rashes, but many other fungal infections like Athlete’s foot have no symptoms apart from the itching and/or inflammation. Poorly fitting socks or socks made out of rough materials can cause abrasion and this can cause bacteria from within your shoes to infect the raw skin.

There are also several treatments that you can use in order to get rid of the itching.

Mix a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a shallow tub of water and soak your feet in it for at least 20 minutes. Use a pumice stone to gently get rid of the excess skin on your soles.

Also make sure that you clean the area between your toes as this is where dirt and sweat tends to collect. After this, dry your feet thoroughly with an old towel and if necessary a blow dryer.

Grind a handful of Margosa leaves and dust your feet with this powder as the leaves have antifungal properties and will help to treat as well as prevent fungal infections. If Margosa leaves are not available you can use an over the counter anti fungal powder. You can also use a moisturizer made out of tea tree oil and olive oil. Mix about three drops of tea tree oil and five drops of olive oil and massage your feet with this mixture before you go to bed. Tea tree oil is a very good anti-fungal agent and will help to reduce the itching.

Closed shoes make the ideal breading grounds for bacteria and fungus as they thrive in warm moist environments. It is necessary that you keep your shoes clean to prevent fungal infections. There are some basic hygiene practices that you should follow on a regular basis. Make sure that you only use cotton socks as synthetic materials do not absorb sweat as easily. Use a new pair of socks every day and make sure that you do not leave your socks balled up inside your shoes after you have used them as this prevents adequate ventilation within the shoe. Your shoes should be washed at least once a month. Wash the soles of your shoes first so that they are free of all dirt. Mix one or two glasses of apple cider vinegar in about half a bucket of wat5er and soak your shoes in this solution for at least 20 minutes. This will help to kill any germs and bacteria in the lining of your shoes. Scrub your shoes gently with a mild detergent and rinse it thoroughly. Make sure that your shoes have dried completely before you use them.

You should visit a dermatologist id the itching does not subside within two weeks of using these treatments as you could have a more serious skin condition like Eczema and dermatitis.
