If you are plagued with sinus allergies, you should be aware that there is very little you can do about it at home. Allergies are caused by allergens in the environment and unless you are taking a strong and subscribed anti histamine medication, you can be assured that you will never be able to get rid of your allergies. An allergic reaction cannot be cured but these medications are extremely effective as they suppress the symptoms that manifest themselves outwardly.
So if you are suffering from the sniffles, you will be able to stop them completely but it may take a while for the medication to work. Meanwhile, you can try some remedial measures at home to see if you can at least control the worst of your symptoms. To begin with, you should start with a hot water soak.
This will help to loosen up the congestion in your sinuses. You should also add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to your bath. This will be an excellent remedy to provide relief and it should be done before bedtime for best results. Keep in mind that you should not expose your body to cool or cold temperatures after a hot eucalyptus bath. This will worsen your condition and will cause a mucous build-up in your sinuses. You can also keep a small cotton ball which has a drop or two of Eucalyptus oil underneath your pillowcase. This should not really come in direct contact with your skin. Eucalyptus is an extremely strong product and if you have sensitive skin, it may end up damaging your skin as well. You should also make it a point to drink a glass of hot water to which a pinch of turmeric powder has been added each night before bedtime. This will also help to work towards loosening your sinuses from within your body. Turmeric powder will also help with healing to some degree. In any case, you should try to drink warm or hot water at all times when you are suffering from a sinus blockage. However, keep in mind that all the remedial measures recommended here will not heal you fully. Instead, you will find that they are really excellent at providing temporary relief.
