We often pull a muscle when we are engaged in a physical activity for which we have not warmed up properly. Sometimes engaging in physical activity when one is not in the correct shape can also cause a pulled muscle. A pulled hamstring is one of the most common problems of this kind.
This is the muscle that runs from our knees to the buttocks. As can be imagined a painful hamstring can bring life to a standstill. Very often we notice the pain only a couple of days after we have actually sustained the injury.
However a pulled muscle will take its own time to heal. You should rest as much as possible and avoid any physical activity for a few days. You should first of all use an ice pack on the affected area. This remedy is most effective if it is done immediately after the injury has occurred. Not only will this reduce the swelling; it will also bring down the pain. You can also wrap an elastic bandage around your thigh since this will help reduce the stress on the affected muscle thereby giving it a chance to heal.
You will find that using heat therapy reduces the pain and gives you some relief from the pain. Having a hot shower or bath can relax the muscles and made you feel much better. A heating pad, which works on a similar principle, can also help reduce the pain and relax the muscles. You should avoid making sudden moves or engaging in any physical activity till your pulled muscle is healed.
Restless leg syndrome can be caused because of a surgery you have had or simply because of poor circulation. You should make it a point to massage your leg regularly. Heat some massage oil and then rub this on your leg. Leave on the oil for an hour at least and then have a hot bath. Doing an oil massage regularly will help to reduce your problem. You can also use apple cider vinegar to rub your legs with since this is believed to be very effective too. You should learn to relax since very often this syndrome is related to the stress you and your body suffer. Learn to consciously relax your body by listening to some soothing music or practicing some breathing exercises. You can also consult your doctor about this problem since you may require the intake of some vitamins to help you get rid of this problem.
