Gas is a fairly common problem and affects most people. This is not to say that it is not an embarrassing situation. Creation of gas in the stomach can lead people to pass gas. This is accompanied by an embarrassingly loud noise and a nasty smell. What is interesting about gas is that it can be caused not only by what you have eaten but also by how you ate it. If you eat food very fast, without any pauses between mouthfuls then you are likely to suffer from gas. Similarly, if you regularly eat food like potatoes, cauliflower, cabbage, and any kind of dried beans, then you are likely to suffer from gas on a regular basis. You should learn to regulate your food intake, eating food that is not likely to cause the creation of more gas.
You should drink plenty of water between meals. You should also avid leaving too much gap between meals since this too can cause the build up of gasses. You should eat some small snack in between meals, to ensure that not too long an interval has elapsed between two meals in your day. Eat slowly and chew your food carefully. Drink plenty of water. After you finish your food, you can drink a glass of hot water. This will cause you to burp and remove all the gas. You can also sit in a particular position in order to get rid of all the gas in your stomach. Sit on the floor with a cushion to protect against the cold of the floor. Fold both your legs under you and sit on your heels. Sit this way for ten minutes.Sometimes the accumulation of gas can actually cause a pain in the upper abdomen or the chest. Under these circumstances, you can also use a hot water bottle to provide relief. You can also chew on a pinch of caraway seeds whenever you feel that you have an accumulation of gas. You can also wash this down with a glass of warm water.Another easy but slightly messy remedy involves using asafetida. You can take a pinch of the powder on the palm of your hand. Adding a few drops of water to this will result in a sticky paste. Apply this on your stomach, ensuring that some of it gets into your belly button. Let it dry on your stomach. Your gas will disappear. You can also fold a pinch of asafetida powder in some brown sugar and swallow it with some water. This will also work wonders at getting rid of gas.
