I just had surgery, and experiencing a lot of gas in my stomach that will not pass because I haven't had a BM.

If you have not had a bowel movement, you must immediately ask the doctor who has performed your surgery top help you out on that score. Doctors have various methods they can employ to bring you quick and instant relief in such cases. If you are having a lot of gas, and because of the surgery, you are unable to walk around a little and ward it off, the best thing for you would be to lie down flat or on your side, and try to bring your knees up a little high. This will facilitate passing gas quite easily.

Do remember that there could also be other reasons for your gas, such as indigested or poorly digested food. It is very important that you eat easily digestible and simple food when you are facing the problem of inability to pass gas due to your surgery. The best way to get rid of gas is to chew on a piece of ginger. Try to take a teaspoon of dry ginger powder with a pinch of asafoetida with warm water in the morning or at night. This will help you to pass gas at once. It is also possible that you are getting excess gas because of some medication you are being given. In this case also, please talk to your doctor and ask this specific question. You may possibly be given an alternative which will ease your condition.
