My daughter has a red rash on her face with 2 small pin holes in it. What is it? Redness is bright red

The pinholes may have been caused by an insect bite or perhaps a caterpillar. Other causes of rashes are allergies to food or air pollutants. She may also have what is known as a polymorphous light eruption which is caused by allergy to sunlight. The first thing to do is to keep her out of direct sunlight. Also try not to use any fluorescent lights in the house. Also if the rash is accompanied by itching, wheezing or sneezing, she may have some kind of allergy.

Am listing some home remedies for skin rashes:

  1. Make a compress soaked in a mixture of milk and water and apply it to the area
  2. Apply a cold compress made out of ice cold water or even ice to the rash
  3. Make a paste with baking soda and water and apply it to the rash
  4. Witch hazel works well to soothe irritated skin

Precautions to take in the future include:

  • Insect proofing your house
  • Checking for and preventing food allergies. Common culprits are wheat, eggs, tomatoes, dairy products, food additives and colorings, monosodium glutamate and several others.
  • Using a child-safe sunscreen while taking her out during the day
