Remedies for injuries

When you injure yourself, you must first work at staunching or stopping the bleeding. The fastest way to achieve this is to apply pressure on the wound directly. Place a clean cloth that will absorb the blood over the wound and apply pressure on it.

Once the bleeding has stopped, you should clean the wound to avoid bacterial infection and lessen the chances of discoloration. Use soap or plain water to clean the wound. You can also disinfect the wound by using a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide.

You also can use honey as a natural anti-bacterial ointment. Use a clean, blunt knife or your fingers to spread the honey over the cleaned wound.

You should also avoid covering the wound immediately because allowing it to breathe will hasten the formation of a scab which is your body's natural way of covering the wound. It is important to remember that if a cut has been caused due to rusty metal, you should speak to your doctor about getting tetanus injection, especially if it has been at least five years since your last one. When these injuries are near the eyes, you must exercise some more caution than usual because if the wound is not treated correctly or promptly, you might just lose eyesight in the affected eye. Seek medical attention and advice at the earliest.
