I have a smelly discharge from my vagina, what does it mean?

Cure for vaginal discharge

A small amount of vaginal discharge is normal but if it increases it starts smelling foul and may lead to vaginitis. Vaginitis is the inflammation of the lining of vagina and causes itching, burning or excessive vaginal discharge. This discharge and may lead to further complications.


It is best to control the smelly discharge in the beginning and prevent it through home remedies.
  1. Consume as much fibrous foods as you can. Oat bran, brown rice and raw vegetable salads are a good source.


  2. Eat food that is sugar free and yeast free.
  3. Avoid eating aged and processed cheese, alcohol, dried fruits, fermented foods, chocolate, ham, mushrooms, vinegar and pickles.
  4. Drink distilled water only and refrain from eating rich or spicy food.
  5. Wear cotton and loose fitting underwear and sanitary towels.
  6. As soon as you come out of the bath or after swimming, dry yourself immediately. Dust the vaginal area with powder after wiping away the water or moisture.
  7. Use only mild detergents to clean the vaginal area.
  8. If possible remain without under wear for sometime for air to circulate in the area.
  9. Immediately change your panty if you get a feeling of wetness, wipe it dry, powder it and then wear a fresh one.
