A chalazion is actually a formation of cyst in the eyelid. This cyst is mainly caused on the upper eyelid due to swelling of the meibomian gland. This eye condition is not a consequence of any bacterial or viral infection; rather it is caused as a consequence of trapped oil secretions. These cysts on the upper eyelid often go away with the passage of time but yet it's better to have some treatment for reliving the symptoms of chalazion.
