It is really painful when the house door or car door is banged and your finger is held in between. This jammed finger can either result in a normal swelling or bone break. You face difficulty in moving your finger if there is a bone break.

When you have a jammed finger, you can try the following natural remedies:

  • Apply ice for about 10 to fifteen minutes to reduce swelling. Don't apply it directly, rather wrap it a piece of cloth and then apply on the affected area.
  • Carefully, try to move your finger and if you find difficulty in moving, immobilize your finger using a splint, wooden stick or tongue depressor. You can also make us eof gauze tape to hold your finger.
  • You can also apply topical creams or soakings on the jammed finger. This reduces swelling.
  • Take some oral pain killers that you normally use for pain.
  • Dip your finger in the Epsom salt water to relieve pain.
  • Try applying sports creams to reduce swelling and pain. Sports creams are mainly composed of analgesics or warming agents and these warming agents can help to relieve pain.

Consult a physician in case of severe pain, difficulty in finger moving and excess swelling.
