What can I do to help my upset stomach? I have no bathroom related issued but my tummy feels tight and there are constant sharp pains in the upper portion of the stomach.

Stomach pain remedy

From what you describe, especially because you say your stomach is tight, it appears to be a gas or flatulence related problem. There are several things that you can do, but you have to recognize that flatulence is a chronic problem and there are some lifestyle changes that you will have to make and stick to, to keep the problem under control.

When you have a stomach pain, the first thing to do is to wrap a wet towel around your stomach and lie to one side rather than flat on your back. Also try lying on your back and cycling in the air for about a hundred times. This will help you eliminate air. Do not wear clothes with elastic waist bands and avoid trousers or skirts that fit you tightly in the waist area. Don't worry about farting, because farting is what will help you feel better. Try and do this in the privacy of your room if it will make you feel better. If your stomach pains are accompanied by a feeling of burning or discomfort in your chest or throat, these could be signs of acidity. There are several natural antacids and antiflatulents that are listed here:

  1. Roast a teaspoon of Asafoetida over a low flame and eat it mixed up with some yoghurt
  2. Feneel seeds can be taken directly or in the form of a tea
  3. Milk of magnesia is a natural antacid.
  4. Peppermint oil and catnip will help and can be taken in capsule form.

Other than that, try not to eat in the two hours before you go to bed. Avoid foods that cause gas such as foods from the cabbage family, dairy products and sour foods in the night time.
