What are some home remedies for kidney infections in women?

While there are some home remedies that can hasten the cure of a kidney infection (basically a urinary tract infection or UTI) and provide relief from the symptoms, it is important not to spend too much time trying to cure it yourself as the infection can turn quite serious. If a kidney infection persists for more than two days, it is best to visit a doctor for treatment, even if this means taking antibiotics. Kidney damage is something you should never risk. Usually, urinary tract infections affect mainly the urinary bladder, so if there is a kidney infection, it probably already means that the infection has spread and worsened.

Normally, for a urinary tract infection, you should drink plenty of water, at least 10 glasses a day. Cranberry juice is also considered to be useful in treating a urinary tract infection. You should also avoid consuming alcohol, caffeine, colas, and anything with a lot of sugar in it, as this can worsen the infection. In addition, you can take a Vitamin C tablet at night after dinner. If your infection is particularly painful or if it is accompanied by symptoms such as fever and vomiting, you should go to the doctor immediately.
