How To Get Rid Of A Black Eye?

A black eye can be a sign, for some people, of the fact that they are brave. On the other hand, for some it can be a sign of shame. Whatever the reaction to a black eye, you should try various home remedies to get rid of it. The easiest thing to do is to grab a bag of frozen vegetables from the freezer section of your fridge. You can also use ice cubes tied in a thin muslin cloth to soothe your eye. The cold help the congealed blood to disperse and reduces the appearance of a black eye. This will also help reduce the swelling around the eye.

Hot water is also equally effective to reduce the swelling around the eyes. You can use clean cotton balls to dip into the water and bathe the affected area. Another very effective way to treat the black eye would be to dip a soft cloth into the water, wring out the excess water and lay this on the affected eye.

You can also use one teaspoon of cayenne pepper and mix this with five teaspoons of Vaseline. Mix this well and apply on the affected area. You can do this at least three times a day.

Witch hazel pads are also very effective in taking away the darkness from around your eyes. All you have to do is buy some witch hazel pads and put them on your eyes. For best results you should leave these on your black eye overnight. This helps reduce the blackness and in a short while your eye should be losing the dark color.

You can also take some Vitamin K pills, since these help to reduce the swelling. You can make a tea by boiling some comfrey roots. Dip a clean piece of cloth in this and lay on your swollen eye.

It is believed that eating fruits like papaya and pineapple help to reduce the dark circles. You can either drink these fruit juices or else simply eat these fruits. What you should not do, however, is to take an aspirin since this could work badly with your black eye. Stay away from alcoholic beverages too, since these could disguise any symptoms of the black eye.

If the swelling around your eye refuses to go down or if you notice other symptoms like dizziness or nausea, you should consult your doctor. Other symptoms that you need to watch out for include problems with your vision. If you begin to see double or if your eyesight seems to be affected then you should visit your doctor at the earliest.
