Symptoms of Miscarriage

The signs and symptoms of a miscarriage include:

  • Severe cramping
  • Cramping only on one side (may be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy)
  • Vaginal bleeding
  • Tissue with clots passing from the vagina
  • Loss of ‘feeling pregnant’ – This is more a feeling or intuition that some women report having
  • Back pain that ranges from mild to severe
  • Weight loss
  • Vaginal discharge of pinkish white mucus
  • Contractions that occur every five to twenty minutes
Most of the signs and symptoms of a miscarriage do not follow any predictable pattern making it difficult to diagnose the problem on your own. If you do experience any of the above symptoms, it is best to contact your doctor immediately. Early intervention may prevent an abortion in some cases.
