Prevention from Cervical Cancer

A healthy diet is only one way of reducing the chances of cervical cancer. Since cervical cancer is largely a lifestyle disease, other ways to prevent the condition are to:

  • Get an annual Pap smear and pelvic exam
  • Quit smoking
  • Avoid second hand smoke
  • Having a monogamous relationship or limit the amount of sexual partners
  • Taking the vaccine to prevent cervical cancer (protects against two main types of HPV infections that can lead to cancer)
  • Practicing safe sex (use a condom at all times)
  • Avoid high-risk sexual activities
  • Avoid heavy drinking
  • Avoid use of drugs
  • Get some regular exercise daily to improve immunity and health
