Prevention from Cellulitis

The best way to prevent cellulitis is to inculcate certain precautionary measures in your daily routine. Some of the important tips to keep in mind in this regard are as follows:

  • Protect your skin from wounds, cuts, scrapes, and bruises to prevent cellulitis. Protective equipment is necessary while working outdoors and playing outdoor sports. Wear gardening gloves, pants, and long sleeves while indulging in outdoor activities.
  • Avoid walking barefoot in areas like woods, gardens, beaches, and garages where the risk of infection is always higher.
  • Wash away dirt immediately with soap and water. You can use an antibacterial or antibiotic soap as a part of your daily bathing routine.
  • Incase of a wound or skin injury, clean it immediately, apply a topical antibiotic cream, and cover it with a gauze or bandage to prevent infection. Change bandages regularly, especially if they get dirty or wet. Always cover draining blisters until they scab and fall off.
  • Large wounds, cuts, and signs of infection must be immediately reported to the doctor for timely treatment.
  • People suffering from poor blood circulation, diabetes, and kidney diseases should take extra precautions and follow their doctor’s instructions for managing and preventing cellulitis.
