Diet to Lower High Triglyceride Levels

Triglyceride is another form of fat that is most common in the human body and is transported to your blood by the food that goes down to your stomach. Excess levels of triglycerides have a direct effect on your heart and could put you at a major risk of suffering from coronary heart disease. Cholesterol is no more the only factor that plays a crucial role in causing problems related to the heart but triglycerides are equally responsible for the same. Thus, it is of utmost importance that every individual work hard in order to reduce triglyceride levels in the body and the best way to achieve it is through eating foods that lower triglycerides. There are a lot of triglycerides foods to avoid and alcohol is the first on the list and you need to stop drinking it as it directly is converted into triglycerides. Sugar is next and you have to cut down drastically on your intake of sugar if you want to avoid any problems. This means you have to let go off all your favorite cakes, pies, sodas, candies, sweet rolls and so on. Ketchup contains high amounts of sugar and therefore, should not be consumed. Also, beware of all commercial food stuff that have high processed sugar and thus, you need to always check the labels to ensure that they are healthy.

Beans are very good for the health as they are rich in fiber and help reduce triglycerides. One should keep in mind that the different varieties of baked beans that are prepared commercially are full of sugar and thus should not be purchased and consumed.

Saturated fat and Trans fat are foods high in triglycerides and thus, should be avoided completely as you need to keep a tab on your calorie intake. All fried foods, whole milk and whole milk dairy products, high fat meat, cheese, butter and cream cheese are foods that will raise your triglycerides levels. Also, fried food, margarine, vegetable shortening and fast food contain hydrogenated fat which is not at all healthy. Triglycerides diets aim at reducing the levels of triglycerides in the body and thus include a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower and celery. Besides these, lean meat and certain amounts of healthy fat that can be got by eating fish that is high in omega 3 fatty acids. Some of these fish include salmon, sardines, herring, albacore tuna and so on.
