What can I do to help my swollen pierced ear?

Sometimes piercing any part of you body can turn into a nightmare. This often happens when you go to a novice in the art of piercing.  Often infected needles can cause problems too. If you have touched your ear with infected hands, this could be the reason for the ear to be swollen. You should consult a doctor as soon as possible since this kind of an infection will require proper medical care. However, you should first ascertain if your ear is swollen as a reaction to the piercing or it is merely an allergic reaction to the ear ornament that  you are wearing. One easy way to ascertain this is by taking off the earring that you are wearing. Watch your ear to see if the infection clears faster with the ring out of the ear.

The first thing you can do is to wash the wound. Use warm water. Dip a clean cloth in the water and swab the infected ear. You may have to change the water a couple of times. You can clean your ear at least thrice a day. Pat it dry. You can sprinkle some antiseptic powder on it. Wash it periodically. Some people find that using sea salt on wounds in their ears can help them. You can buy sea salt and try this on your ear.
