I am drinking 2T of apple cider vinegar in an 8oz glass of water twice a day will this help reduce my cholesterol levels?

Apple cider vinegar is a natural remedy for reducing cholesterol levels. Pectin which is contained in apple cider vinegar is a soluble fiber and originates from apples. Thus consumption of apple cider vinegar increases your intake of soluble fiber which is helpful in eliminating cholesterol from the body.

The soluble fiber present in apple cider vinegar binds to the fat in the body and absorbs cholesterol. This helps in bringing down the levels of bad cholesterol. Soluble fiber also leads to a sensation of fullness since it adds bulk and as a result you are less likely to overeat. By regulating your food consumption, you are also ingesting less cholesterol.

There are also amino acids contained in apple cider vinegar and these help in neutralizing the low density lipoprotein or bad cholesterol levels. Apple cider vinegar may be used in the following ways to reduce cholesterol;
  • You can drink a tablespoon of the vinegar thrice daily. In case you find it too strong, you can add some honey.
  • Apple cider vinegar may also be added to tea. Add a tablespoon of the vinegar to any tea of your choice and drink every morning.
  • The vinegar may also be used as a dressing over salads.
  • Instead of using white vinegar while cooking, opt for apple cider vinegar instead.
  • Add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to a glass of fruit juice and drink before going to bed at night.
There is no recommended dosage of apple cider vinegar since its effects have not been proven. Most people take about a couple of tablespoons mixed with water daily. In supplement form, about 285 milligrams may be consumed.  The vinegar is highly acidic and may cause damage to the throat and teeth; therefore it is advisable to consult a doctor regarding the dosage.
