Diagnosed with strep throat Friday evening. Can I practice tennis on Monday and play tennis match on Tuesday after 3 days of pencillin?

If you are hoping to indulge in so much physical exercise while being in an antibiotic as strong as penicillin, then you need to be aware of what it will do to your body. Antibiotics have a general tendency to strap your body of all energy and make you listless and tired. They will also, very effectively, give you loose motions and you will probably see watery stools as long as you are on the antibiotic. This will also sometimes leave you feeling completely exhausted, as it will always tend to dehydrate your body. Antibiotics of all kinds also have a natural tendency to make you feel extremely sleepy and drowsy. With all of these conditions, you could safely come to the conclusion that it will not be possible for you to play any kind of game at all and that too within so short duration of taking antibiotics. It is also a good thing to remember that rest is an important part of treating the strep virus. This is because your faculties are not really at their best when you are in sufferance. And in order to fight the infection on its own without the help of antibiotics, your body will also have the tendency to develop a fever. This will add its own kind of weakness to your body. The fever will also not allow you to remain active enough to play.

It would be advisable for you to forget about playing or practicing any kind of game. For at least a week or two after having been diagnosed with strep throat, you will find that you need to conserve your energy as much as possible so that you can better fight off the disease. The most irksome symptom of strep throat is usually the swelling of tonsils. This does not allow you to breathe comfortably. So if you are planning to indulge in any form of physical exercise, you will find that this is particularly difficult and challenging. Since regular and normal breathing will become difficult under these circumstances, you can well imagine what will happen. You should generally avoid trying to strain yourself or tire yourself out during the time you are suffering from a strep throat infection. If you do end up playing a game as strenuous as tennis, you may find yourself suffering from something more complicated like a fall. Naturally, the decision would lie with you. But you are advised to refrain.
