Childs ear continues to hurt when sneezing, yawning?

A ear ache is usually an indication of a ear infection — such infections are extremely common among children, and usually do not need any treatment. Children are more prone to infections of the middle ear because their Eustachian tubes are extremely narrow, and therefore there is a greater risk of fluid and bacteria collecting in them and thus causing an infection. In most cases however, the body fights the infection on its own, and at the most some home remedies can be used to ease the pain of the infection.

If your child has had a ear infection and his or her ear continues to hurt for over a week after that, even if it is only when sneezing and yawning, this means that the infection was not cured. Such activities tend to compress the tissues in the ear slightly, making the child feel any existing inflammation more sharply.

Even if you are not aware of any previous ear infection, the current ear ache might indicate that there was one recently. There might not be a full blown infection any more, but just enough inflammation to cause a little pain. The best course of action is to visit a doctor, as an infection that has lasted this long is unlikely to disappear on its own or even with home remedies.
