I have hives on my rib cage only for about 3 weeks. I haven't changed diet or nutrition and can't figure out what's causing it. thank you.

Hives commonly occur due to excess sweat or heat or friction in any particular area of the body. They may also occur due to an allergy of some sort. It could be a seasonal allergy, or something to do with a common food allergen. Among common foods that cause allergies are nuts, milk, soy and mushrooms. There are, of course, many more. You would need to perhaps examine what change has occurred in your diet in order to decide if your hives are due to an allergy. Common remedies for hives are cool compresses. If you can handle it, have a cold soak in a tub. This will relieve the itching greatly. Another old remedy is to make a concoction of a cup of tamarind and two cups of water and leave it overnight. In the morning, slush the tamarind with your fingers and then apply this solution on the affected area. This should take care of the problem after only two applications. You may also apply calamine lotion for cool relief. Make a paste of Fuller's Earth and water and apply it like a pack on the area. This will also help bring relief from the itching. You may also prepare an oatmeal loofah and scrub your body with it. Put some whole oatmeal in a sock and tie the end. This should work effectively.
